Brian Chan (USA 1980) Pig, papier, lengte 15 cm (2007)

I folded this pig for the Year of the Pig in the oriental zodiac. I decided to design a pig like the ones I'm familiar with, those my uncle used to keep, and those I’ve seen during my travels around the United States, as well as from photographs online, rather than the wild boar often seen in Chinese and Japanese art. While working on this piece I wanted to convey intelligence and pride rather than just the aspects of the stereotypical pig. Usually I make a drawing of the work I want to design in origami, but for the pig, I just started folding and experimenting with paper.
